The Holyoke Community Compost Hubs offer free food-scrap composting to residents located in convenient, walkable locations. Members of the Hubs contribute kitchen scraps (diverting them from the landfill), and can receive free finished compost for their gardens. In this way we are supporting community food production, reducing food waste, and making composting accessible to all income levels.

Our Dwight Street Garden (774 Dwight St) Compost Hub is active and accepting new members. Sign up for free below. Holyoke Food and Equity Collective plans to build and manage three additional Community Compost Hubs in Holyoke in 2026, which will increase its reach in providing free food scrap drop-off and engaging diverse residents in the process of making compost. Like the collective’s pilot hub at Dwight Street Garden, these will be rodent-proof 3-bin composting systems located in safe, public spaces, with a focus on proximity to the historically underserved and primarily Latinx neighborhoods of South Holyoke, The Flats, and downtown.
